If you are looking for a good stocking filler presents this year there is no better choice than pure beeswax candles. I’ve made and sold all of mine already.
Beeswax candles burn longer than any other candles because they have the highest melting point of any wax. They don’t release any soot and drip less, they also emit more ambient light. Beeswax is better than other candles .
Beeswax are natural and renewable, don’t emit toxins and re hypoallergenic, meaning they are safe for anyone with allergies. As they have a high melting point they are longer lasting, and burn longer and slower because beeswax is dense . Beeswax candles for the science produces negative ions, which benefit us, by attracting pollutants in the same way that a magnet attracts iron filings, so burning them purifies the air!
They are a healthy choice and environmentally friendly choice because beeswax is sustainable and made from a natural choice, from bees. For all these reasons that’s why pure beeswax candles are more expensive than any other candles. Each one of my candles takes me half an hour to make, that’s why they are more expensive.
As for honey, I have advised and tell people not to buy it from a supermarket. You are not buying real honey! More than 90% of sampled honey bought from British retailers failed authenticity test, by the Honey Authenticity Network organisation. From 30 samples they gathered, the five from beekeepers, all passed. 24 of the remaining 35 jars from retailers were genuine but adulterated. So the honey you are buying from supermarkets is NOT real honey, it is being bulked up with sugar syrup. Chinese honey factories now produce a special UK grade honey that sells for 31p a lb. This exported honey is not pure. Following EU investigation in 2023 46% of imported honey products were suspected to be fraudulent. At present there are is no consensus on reliable honey testing technique, the solution is only buy honey from a beekeeper you know, and expect at premium prices. Between £ 7 and £10 a jar will guarantee that you are more than likely buying the real mackoy.
On the subject of Bees I can report on City bee’s, those from London, a pollinator and habitat study in the city stated that the honey bee was the most numerous pollinator. This is great news, as everyone ought to be aware there are less flying insects now than ever before as we go through a mass extinction, caused by humans. 57% of 9606 insect pollinators recorded in a study were the honey bee. This is put down to the public wanting to save the bees. Of the rest 17% were bumblebees, 15% were solitary bees, 9 % flies and the remaining 11 % wasps and hoverflies.
Happy Beekeeping
